In Character Information

Character Name: Sophia
Fandom: Claymore
Timeline: Chapter 24
Character's Age: Appears to be approximately twenty, with her real age being unknown

Powers, skills, pets and equipment: At this time, Sophia will not have any new abilities upon arriving in Anatole, only those which were given to her in canon.

Known as "Muscular Sophia" for a reason, Sophia lacks a definitive set of "skills" per se. She relies considerably more upon her brute strength and intellect in battle than she does the wielding of particular techniques. She possesses a very penetrating ability, however, which cuts down obstacles in her way as surely as a bulldozer bulldozes. She was ranked Number 3 of her generation until Priscilla's rise to Number 2; following that Sophia became Number 4. She is an "Offensive Type," meaning that all of her strengths focus on attack rather than defense. She cannot regenerate lost limbs the way a Defensive Type would be able to, but with concentration, the expenditure of energy (called yoki), and time, she could reattach a severed limb as long as it was not beyond repair and the cell tissue was not dead.

Sophia's yoma power is listed at B level, which indicates that she has an above average level of yoma energy potential, meaning she possesses a high quantity of energy. Her agility (which includes quickness as well as speed and maneuverability of one's body) is listed to be of an average C ranking. Her strength is well above average at the rank of A+. Mentality (listed as "depth, discernment, and quickness of thought"), Sensing (being able to detect other yoma energies), and her Leadership (self-explanatory) are all listed at B level. (For more on what all of this means in detail, see this page.)

It is also important to note that, like all warriors from her world called Claymores, Sophia can quickly recover lesser injuries, is impervious to poisons, and not susceptible to temperature changes the way a normal human would be. She only needs to eat one small meal every few days and requires less sleep to operate as well.

No pets will accompany Sophia's arrival into Anatole.

Sophia will be arriving with her warrior's uniform as well as her claymore sword.

Canon History: Claymore Wikia and New Claymore Wikia are both accurate sources to refer to.

Personality: Sophia is nothing save elegant, a quality which becomes her entirely, far-reaching into every aspect of her personality.

She conducts herself with heavy-lidded eyes and sultry half-smiles, deceptively lady-like until she decides a situation calls for a more serious approach. However, even in the midst of chaos she maintains an outwardly cool and collected disposition, very rarely seen to be looking worried or upset, if at all. Curiously enough, Sophia possesses a sharp tongue, but much like the other facets of her personality, it is sheathed in silk and velvet. Even her brutish strength is tempered by her elegance, much the same as her anger.

Also worthy of mention, Sophia is not a person who is difficult to get along with most times, as things of an upsetting nature are more like to roll off her shoulders than perturb her—but this is as much a point in her favor as it is one against her. There are times when she is simply too unconcerned with the actions of others, even if it defeats the purpose of a mission she and a team were sent on.

Sophia is also competitive and playful, indicated in the way she interacts with Noel. The two bicker like sisters for the higher rank between them, seemingly unconcerned for the positions above even their own. This clearly reflects the flirtatious and fun side that Sophia possesses, otherwise she would aim higher and be more competitive with Irene than she is with Noel.

Despite that, even in her playfulness one can detect a certain pride and willingness to defend her rank and hold it. She is a dutiful warrior in the end, though not quite as by-the-book as Priscilla or as cold and stoic as Irene.

Why do you feel this character would be appropriate to the setting? Sophia is already accustomed to drama and monsters, so Anatole won't be a huge leap for her, more of a hop and a skip. The biggest hurdle will be overcoming technology issues, but she's bright enough to manage even that with adequate to above average proficiency. I'm really looking forward to seeing how she'll adapt to Teresa still having a head and Priscilla not being the one-horned Awakened Being she saw her as last.

Network Post Sample: [It's not Mist that you see rising before the Forge when it is turned on, but steam. A tall wooden enclosure surrounds a large bath, and leaning up against a stone wall, her figure partly concealed by swirling silk-heat fingers and partly hidden by the bubbling water, is a woman with heavy-lidded silver eyes.]

[Damp waves of pale gold hang just past her chin, and an indolent smile brushes over her lips.]

I shouldn't be taking the time out to enjoy something like this . . . but there was money in that strange room I woke up in and I couldn't let it go to waste. Someone clearly went to a good deal of trouble to see that I had a bed. I'm sure they'd like it if I had a bath, too. Besides . . . it doesn't seem like any of my sisters are in dire straits at this time.

I can't imagine why there are so many of us gathered here, in a city as strange as this, though.

[She pauses long enough to push an errant lock of hair off her forehead and then lays her cheek in the palm of one hand, elbow propped upright on the edge of the bath.]

At any rate, since I've discovered how to use this thing. [She lightly shakes the Forge.] Perhaps someone out there can help me.

I'm looking for two warriors, though maybe the people here call them Claymores? The first is Number Three, Quicksword Irene. She has long hair and pointy ears. The second is Number Five, known as Stormwind Noel. She has a ridiculous habit of leaping about like an untrained monkey. Is there anyone here that knows the whereabouts of either of them?

[If she survived then they must have as well. What that means for the monster, well . . . Sophia tries not to think about that and instead keeps on smiling her sultry smile.]

Well?

Third Person Sample: Sophia had an action trial run in [community profile] thescorchedbox where she encountered Raki and Roxanne separately. This can be found here.
